Reading your comments re: DJT was icing on the choc chip bar recipe for me and supported my decision to subscribe. I have found my flock. I renewed my US passport recently but have lived in Australia for over 40 years and it is a mystery to me how the political choice in the US has come to this. It makes me sad, am hoping the choc chip bars will help. πŸ™πŸΌπŸ«£

Hydrangeas. Yes, I'm going to watch the debate even though I haven't watched or listened to Trump in a while because: a) he's trying to destroy the country; b) he's mean and full of hate just because; and c) he's total chaos, can't speak in sentences, and I can't tolerate it. A bacon, egg and cheese sandwich can, and should, be served on whatever type of bread, bagel, roll, biscuit, English muffin or pancake you want. Life's too short to quibble.

Mix brown and white sugar with the melted butter?

Yes! Fixed all around.

Hydrangeas too!

I’m watching the debate and pray Biden makes Trump look like the fraudster he is. Meanwhile, I’m studying for my radio amateur license. I had a technician class ticket, but let it lapse. Should not have done that. Now I have to memorize dry descriptions of radio theory again. It’s all to pass the FCC test and nobody asks you these same questions again. Your cookie recipe is very tempting and I may just have to put down my boring study book and make them.

I too am so bitter about how things are shaking out… but I have a feeling these cookie bars will sweeten the sting. Take care

I skipped the baking and just ate the chocolate chips. Watching the debate now. They should have used a bullhorn every time Trump lied. CNN let him get away with blatant lies.

California poppies.

No. And while I generally adhere to the principle that the customer is always right, anyone asking for that particular sandwich would be barred from my virtual cafe. And they wouldn't get any chocolate chip cookie bars, either.

I love that some companies are now making soy free and soy lecithin free chocolate

These are definitely best when fully cooled. They are chewy with varied textures and taste. I added Kraft caramel bites which are little blobs of Kraft caramels shaped a lot like garbanzo beans. They add further to the chewy - melting into the bar. Oo La La - these are even better than I imagined

When I was in college in Atlanta we'd go to the DeKalb Farmer's market, less for the vegetables and more for the fresh pasta and bakery items. They had big, beautiful cookies with chunks of smooth melty chocolate and whole peanuts. This photo brings back that memory of those cookies that I'd eat for dinner, or to soothe a broken heart or disappointment over a bad test grade. Even those would not have made watching last night's debacle less stressful.

1. Would oat flour work? Pecans for the nut?

2. I listen in the radio. In part because I’m more a radio person, but in part because I can pay better attention to the words

3. Can we talk about Alice in Wonderland and whether you like pumpernickel bread for French toast?

My latest chocolate chip cookie batch included 2T of chunky peanut butter, with a bit less shortening adjustment. Talk about a Reese’s Cups flavor! ❀️

Of course we’re watching. Who could not with bars in hand?

I’m grocery shopping today and frozen lime bars are on the list for tonight’s tv viewing. While I love chocolate chip anything, the thought of baking in our heat (and humidity for Colorado) is not appealing.

Fingers crossed they have them...Hope the temperature cools down, and that the debate is not too heated. Or do I? Hmmm.

Peonies, with shrub roses a close second. I wouldn't eat a breakfast sandwich on a cinnamon raisin bagel but hey, if someone really, really wants it and they ask nicely, ok. Meanwhile I will put extra Boursin on my own sandwich (on a biscuit). And Bosco is adorable.

That looks great. Would a little corn starch stop something like a sugar cookie spreading too much as well?

Yes, it is a great addition to sugar cookies. Keeps them tender and fluffy. Your batter needs to be cold, however! Even with corn starch, if the butter/dough is too warm, your cookies will be puddles.
