I'm retired and live alone with my cat (to the consternation of JD Vance), so I watched the DNC and it was electrifying. I tuned in a little after 6 pm CT because someone on Twitter had highly recommended listening to the roll call. I had really liked the roll call in 2020 but wasn't expecting much. It was so unifying and literally showed the diversity in the US and, unlike the RNC, it wasn't a bunch of mostly white dudes. The Blue dots in Red states showed so much enthusiasm; I'm a Blue dot in a Red state so I really relate to that. Someone on Twitter showed a side-by-side comparing the DNC roll call to the RNC roll call and it's very telling. And the speeches were great. I was reading with the convention streaming in the background but when the speeches began I was pulled into listening to them full-time. From Ana Navarro talking about what communism and authoritarianism is really like to Doug Emhoff's speech to the fantastic speeches of the Obamas, and yes, Michelle's speech was the best. I made your Blueberry Roly-Poly when you first put it on your Substack and it's one of my favorites. I'm making your cheesy zucchini bread today and then your blueberry-coconut cake this weekend. I'm on the autism spectrum and very much an introvert and it exhausted me just listening to the speakers and the crowd, but in a good way.

Garden State in the house over here! 🙋🏻‍♀️ I recommend watching the convention live or as a replay on Kamala Harris’s YouTube channel. No pundits, no commercials, and no distracting graphics on the screen.

Thank goodness for streaming! I got the cspan app and my headphones and was able to watch and still stay in the room while my significant other watched the Yankees. I thought the roll call was inspired. In fact, I’m finding the entirety of this convention to be masterful. And entertaining. And motivating. Also love watching on a non-msm platform. No interruptions.

So grateful you shared this! I seem to have dozed off during the rollcall last night, but stayed awake for the electrifying speeches. Now watching most of the rollcall from your link (I'm up to Utah) and have counted only 7 white men announcing their states electoral votes - Wow. The diversity represented brings this 'vintage' white woman to happy tears. Yes, we can do this! And here's a link to the state playlist for each state if it's allowed: https://www.nbcchicago.com/dnc-chicago-2024/dnc-roll-call-playlist-each-states-song-dnc-chicago/3527827/

Georgia! Tennessee! West Virginia!

DO SOMETHING!

My 18 and 20 year old sons are so exited to see such JOY and LIFE in this campaign. We watched videos of it together - BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO! This is progress.

And I’m here for Michelle Obama’s surgical evisceration of the orange traitor.

Thanks for posting these Marissa. Just caught clips last night on Threads (where I'm currently throttled to only being able to like things for 5 minutes a day. Musk thinks I'm a threat to community standards).

We didn’t know the Roll Call was last night and lucked out! What fun! We flipped stations around, CNN broke away during Illinois (really, the host state?) and missed Lil John as well. I’m still on Twitter, though, so was able to catch them. My young adult daughter and I helped identify the songs for my parents and husband, lol. And of course Doug’s video and speech, and the Obamas. What a great night!

I'm from NJ and never heard "and you're not!" There was a time when all anyone ever wanted to do was get OUT of NJ, and that was me. I went to Madison College in VA in 1969 (now James Madison University) and never went back. Many years later I made my peace with NJ and return once a year to see my remaining cousins (I aim old, but they are older) and spend a week on LBI. If you're from NJ you need no explanation for where that is.
