OMG! You are so wonderful to use E Jean Carroll's story to re-create a favorite cake! I'm going to make this, after I obtain things like milk and cream, and I'm going to pay attention to the maternal-like nag because ... that is so kind of you. And as for "our E Jean" well, I believe that she was intimately invaded against her will and she deserves double the amount of punitive and compensatory damages. Love to both of you extraordinary women!
I’ve been looking for a white cake recipe and none of them looked appealing but THIS one looks like a winner and I am thrilled to be able to bake a cake in solidarity to celebrate E Jean!
Wow, this cake looks wonderful, will try it and share. Mom made a chocolate custard cake for my birthday. She’d melt the chocolate squares in a double boiler top then add to the batter. She died before we could talk about it, had no idea where the recipe was till I opened a recipe book my just deceased sister had made for me - and there was the recipe. I think it’s finally time to try making that cake. Thanks for what you do, Marissa. Blessings to you and E Jean both.
Please make this cake. Happy to try the recipe too, if you want to send it through. It sounds delicious. What a wonderful memory. So glad the recipe exists.
I'm so happy so happy so happy!!! Wish I could give E Jean and her whole legal team a giant hug and a THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Cake looks neat too :)
The fact that it took the jury less than 3 hours to reach unanimity not only on the verdict but on the amount of damages is even more delicious than this cake - though the cake sounds truly wonderful even to this lover of dark chocolate.
I, too, was surprised by the speed with which it was decided. It says a lot about the evidence and how wonderfully Robbie K argued the case.
As for chocolate cake, with all due respect to E Jean, I prefer it too. However, this cake, esp the frosting, made me appreciate vanilla more than ever.
If any occasion calls for cake, this one does! Happy judgment day (not THAT judgment day) to E. Jean Carroll, and to all of us who have been waiting for even a taste of judgment (but no cake) to land at the feet of you know who!
Applause, applause for E Jean Carroll and the result! Love to you, Marissa, for this recipe. Sentimental attachments to our childhood cakes loom large for many of us. I loved yellow cake with chocolate frosting (though my mother’s cakes usually leaned perilously like a Disney cartoon!). My daughter’s favourite has always been marble cake with chocolate frosting and butterfly decoration.
I hope you have photos of those fun sounding cakes. I should make more marble cakes. Haven't made one in ages. As for me...for a longtime, my favorite cake was from Trost's in Summit: chocolate cake, vanilla frosting in the middle and...mocha frosting on the outside. Oh how I wish Trost's was still in business. For all that I could bake just about any cake, nothing matches Trost's for pure joyful memory.
Ooh! That sounds wonderful! I love mocha. No pics of my mother’s cakes, sadly, but yes on all the butterflies (and a Barbie!). My daughter has an Instagram for her cakes “tinycakesuk” because she has picked up the cake bug!
Thanks to E. Jean & the anonymous jurors who thought it more likely than not that the perpetrator did it. B/c this was not a criminal case. the jury did not have to find beyond a shadow of a doubt. judge recommended that the jurors remain anonymous for a long time.
This sounds delish. I was all ready to give it a go but I’m short on eggies. How did that happen? Oh I know - I’ve been too busy celebrating E Jeans victory. Yay!
I’ll make this soon. But I’m confused about the pans...the recipe says you’ll use 2 pans...you say there are 3 different pan sizes you could use. Could you use 2 round cake pans?

And back at you!
Can I have a slice?
You can have two!
Yum!

TBH I would always choose chocolate cake....but this vanilla cake changed my mind.

Agree. Hugs all around.

Yes, yes, yes!
Freaking fabulous! Aww <3 Congratulations E. Jean! The truth is neither Liberal or Conservative, the truth is the truth.

What a way to celebrate the courageous E. Jean Carroll. I am making these as cupcakes and delivering to my many women friends.
Love the idea of making as cupcakes and sharing with your friends. Post a pic on my Twitter if you can!

Looks delicious. Will bake and enjoy this in celebration for E Jean. So happy for her!
I'm sure she'll appreciate it!
Such a wonderful post! Am so very happy for E. Jean and her legal team to have achieved some justice. Extraordinary.

Sorry for any confusion. Yes, use 2 pans of the same size. Just adjust the cook time according to size!
Yum! Thank you so very much!
