I am fortunate that is was gifted with a dozen blood oranges from a nephews tree which i had processed last winter. The fruit was iced and the peal candied and frozen. I can’t wait to make this cake. I like corn meal but also farina for cakes and will have to try both and see the difference.

Would you believe I actually have a jar of blood orange syrup in my refrigerator right now? I’m making this cake soon.
Buy two more blood oranges, slice them thinly into rounds, and candy the slices in your syrup. Decorate cake with syrup AND candied slices.
