‘a humble cookie farmer’…love that! I don’t think there’s any possible way to comprehend what’s going on out there so much better to bake. Definitely making there sugar cookies.
I was looking forward to this recipe but alas - lactose and I do not get along. A flashback to a potluck - one woman was trying to get me to have a piece of her cheesecake and when I told her I can't do lactose she assured me it was okay because it was sweetened condensed (she paused, her shoulders fell) milk.
..."unsweetened condensed" thoughts.... You are as brilliant a person as you are a baker (and if that sounded judgy, it was and I apologize but it was truly meant as "sweet!")
Our grandchildren love visiting farms. I'm sure they will enjoy time planting (mixing the sweet seeds), caring for (baking), harvesting and consuming sugar cookies... Maybe this weekend.
Was just eyeing my cookie sheets in the kitchen thinking I might make something. Maybe a nice sugar cookie, except I have no lemon extract. It'll be OK without it. Chocolate chunks on them instead?
The dog always knows how to get a person distracted with the "puppy eyes". My mini doxie is a pro and tour beautiful black beast looks like he has perfectfedthe look. The cookies sound delicious...
I’ve seen some fun ones at Michael’s. PME is the brand. There’s also Wilton and Fancy Sprinkles. Amazon has a lot of options. If you’re concerned about ingredients, I just found this company while looking for the ones I’ve used: https://www.colorkitchenfoods.com/sprinkles I haven’t tried them though.
No criticisms here. I love the term 'humble cookie farmer.'
For those who need to swap out the gluten in the recipe, Cup4Cup will be their friend.
As far as Broadway, please check out SUFFS on PBS and on Broadway when it comes to a city near you. I BELIEVE the writer said it will be available for schools to perform either next year or in 2028. But don't quote me.
For many of your followers, all that Chai means is tea. Please never say 'chai tea' unless you want to sound like an ignorant American.
Over the weekend, I spent time weeding in the garden and enjoyed eating outside for the first time in months, before it gets too hot and mosquitoey in the Chicago area.
Marissa, I know you wouldn't. Some (including baristas) don't understand. Thanks. I need all of the luck I can get with the garden. The deer and something teeny are getting to things before they can come up. I don't know if bunnies are getting to the carrots that need to be replanted or if it's something else. Bunnies are cute. But not when they destroy everything.
Ok, another Thursday bake on tap with this recipe. Daughter has gone home so not the same fun as last week but it’s cookies! What’s to lose? Also, off topic a bit - ever thought about a shortbread cookbook? I have several of your shortbread recipes. Maybe combine with sugar cookies?! They’re similar in a sense as basic templates.
Love that you are a cookie farmer; a job that can't be replaced by AI! As I think I need a break from all things chocolate, sugar cookies seem about right. Weather in NorCal has been spectacular. I started my annual tomato plants (one a volunteer from last year). My two elderly cats keep the rats away, so totally organic. BTW, some good news on partisan gerrymandering today.
Yes, good news. My cats are good at keeping most things away from my plants except...for deer that are slowly nibbling all the baby apples off my trees. WHAT CAN I DO???? Are you as enamored of volunteer tomato plants as I am? It feels like such a gift!
Yes indeed! LMK if you make them with sweetened condensed coconut milk, and if so....do not overlook how nice some shredded coconut would be in the cookies...

I third it!
Agree

Oh, I'm so sorry. I have a good vegan chocolate chip cookie recipe or two in my cookbook...
I’ll be working on a workaround on this lactose issue.
Thank you!
Sweetened condensed coconut milk?
I'm going to try playing around with sweetened condensed coconut milk...because it would add some interesting flavor to magic cookie bars....
and pies and cookies....Hmmmm.
You’re on a roll! 😄

You are truly sweet to say so.
I love sugar cookies! I can hardly wait to try this recipe. AND I didn’t know about reclosable condensed milk!
I only just came upon it at a grocery in a fancier neighborhood than I usually shop in....
Same here. I do hope I can find the reclosable condensed milk, and I'm thinking chai-sugar on top.
It looks like there are 2 brands at Walmart , Eagle and La Lechera. Kroger also. Food Lion has one. Publix, not yet
Thanks for this!
You’re welcome
Thanks.
You’re welcome
I recently bought some products I’d never seen before called finishing sugars. I think they will be delicious on these cookies
They will!
There are so many but hazelnut chocolate and lemon look good. I bought salted caramel
I like the sprinkles but my spouse prefers ground nuts.
Use both!
Both are good options.

It's so important for children to see where and how their food grows. LOL. Loved your note.

Of course! 🍪
You'll receive no criticism from me. I wouldn't be able to resist those eyes either. Thank you for sharing.
“…caramel-notes…boosted by a small amount brown sugar and vanilla…”
Oh you are such a foodie. 😉
whod've thunk?
i owe you a phone call!
Can’t wait! ☎️

Say hi to your doxie from Norman.

Anyone have a good source for sprinkles? The supermarket ones just aren't worthy, I think.
Thank you for the good sprinkle recs.

Hmmmm. That's a lovely idea!! Let me ponder further.

We had deer until we put fences and gates. I love the volunteers: so hardy and hopeful. I try to reciprocate their faith.
Sweetened condensed milk is one of the best comfort ingredients in this time of Trumprot. These will be made and consumed in the next 24. Thank you!
Ohhh I hope you like them.
Well, this is exciting! With the various sprinkles in my pantry, these will make great 4th of July cookies! Can’t wait!
