Since I live alone I love small-batch cooking. I just added malted milk powder to my shopping list. I remember when I was growing up malted milk was popular for good reason. To add a good thing that happened this week, I attended a town hall in MO because Republican House Rep. Ann Wagner hasn't held a town hall in 12 years. She holds one of the seats (gerrymandered) the Democrats are targeting. There were local activists, state Senators, and Senator Chris Murphy. I was born in St Louis, moved out after college and lived in Texas, Tennessee and CT, and moved back after I retired. I missed Senator Murphy. He is such a dynamic and knowledgable speaker. The turnout on a rainy, late Friday afternoon was tremendous, and the message was clear - keep resisting.

That Cory Booker cake was a good one. My people at the local book store loved it! We put plant based whipped cream on it. Thank you!!!

Sometimes it is the smallest creations — a warm cookie, a melted morsel of sweetness — that remind us how tenderness lives in the everyday. In the quiet alchemy of butter, sugar, and care, we find a simple truth: that love often arrives not with grand gestures, but in moments that soften the heart like sunlight softens snow.

What humble offerings might we create today that leave a sweetness lingering in the lives we touch? ∞

Thank you so much, Marissa. For EVERYTHING you do and write. And that cone your dog is wearing might violate the 8th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution (cruel and unusual punishment)!

Aww, Norman! But just so you know, dear pup, it's a Cone of Safety! There's no shame in protecting yourself from further injury, though there's nothing to be done for your dignity if you walk into a wall or two.

What an amazing pic of you & Senator Booker. He's genuinely so full of joy here! 🥰

These cookies look superb! Will def add to my list of bakes (minus the malt, as I have a sensitivity to malt). Thanks for sharing, Marissa! 💙💙

Chocolate and malted milk in a cookie? My happy place. Poor Norman. He'll be much happier soon. Your cookie book is coming out at just the right time. I was just searching online for a cookie recipe book. Always trying to perfect new goodies.

I am just so in awe of you and other Americans who show such fortitude and who are willing to speak out. You are angry and brave.

But we still need sweetness, cookies! Thank you.

Norman's adorable. BTW I try to bake vegan mostly but results are often disappointing since I don't understand all the chemical reactions etc. I guess. Congrats to you because the coffee cake looks perfect.

WE found an inflatable donut collar for our dog when she had to have some surgery on her private area, a skin tag . She could rest her head and she did not run into walls with the cone. We knew she would freak out with a cone. she had to wear it for around 2 weeks until her stitches were removed. We found it on eBay. delivery waquick.Hope Norman manages with the dreaded cone but if he seems really unhappy you might look into the alternative. Love your writing and recipes . Look forward to more.
