Have I told you lately how absolutely precious you are? I started on them right after dinner based on the first post...hmm, what am I missing? How much oats? Where are the oats? So I go back in and behold, your second post - truly a LOL moment! And yes, these cookies are not just a cookie, they are an event - one destined to improve as they sit. Though I did freeze 1/2 to bake later. Woohoo! Thank you!!!
I am so grateful for your note! I felt so lousy/silly/upbraided by people for forgetting to put oats in the recipe! But as I tell my journalism students, even editors need editors. So glad you made the cookies, too! Don't you feel safer knowing there is an emergency stash of cookie in the freezer? xo
You are such a joy, Marissa! The recipes are always good and love the little political side notes, always on target. I often send your notes to my girls - both far more creative in the kitchen than I’ve ever been - so at this point will just be sensible and get gift subscriptions for them. Thanks for being you and sharing with us.
Thank YOU for your kind and inspiring support. It keeps me going! And thanks for getting your daughs subscriptions. I even got a nice note from one of them! xo
Would you mind terribly if I sent you a virtual hug? I know I can sure use one today. Thanks for the recipe. I’ll make it with both raisins and chocolate chips. Hope you enjoyed your much-deserved nap. 🤗
I so am with your brother. Oatmeal raisin cookies, made from the recipe on the oatmeal box, are a crime against nature, an insult to the ingredients, and possibly the worst cookies ever. I offer as proof:. They used to serve them in my high school cafeteria {{{gag}}}
I'm with you about the recipe on the Quaker oats container, which I suppose is anti-American or something, but it just doesn't do it for me. Which is why I came up with this recipe. But I respect your dislike/disdain for oatmeal cookies. I have an entrenched memory of the smell of my high school cafeteria and it's not a good one. You?
Here I am again making this recipe again. This time I made it with browned butter and dark brown sugar along with honey (my darker variety). I also used the whole wheat flour this time. Just want to say my house smells like heaven and these cookies are...whoa almost exotic. Rich enticing ooh - I need some adjectives
In Australia they are called Anzac cookies and they’re a national treasure, however, never with dried fruit or any other ring ins... and instead of honey we use golden syrup.

These cookies are so good - I make them again and again. Added some toffee chips this time. Yum

Oh.. and no eggs.
Golden syrup is one of my favorite ingredients. I will post my recipe for Anzac biscuits soon!
