This looks delicious! I made Smitten Kitchen's version for New Year's—it was quite a bit different (cake had dates, for one thing, and we served it with whipped cream), but also delicious. But in the name of scientific enquiry, I must now try this version (but nobody's going to have to twist my arm!).
My very Scottish husband will love this but will whine like heck if I don't put raisins in it so I'll do that because he's a darling. His very Canadian wife will love it too (that's me). I'll have not much trouble finding the Golden Syrup because we have a lot of British shoppes here. Thank you for this recipe.
Made this tonight—yum! I’ve always heard so much about sticky toffee pudding and toffee is my favorite dessert flavor. I didn’t know what it was supposed to look like so I made it in a deeper ceramic dish, maybe 8 inches round. The ice cream was a little beyond me but a glass of cold milk worked perfectly to cut the sweetness—the same as I do with pie. I will absolutely make this again, maybe in a shallower cake tin, adding some spices or dried fruit next time.
This looks to die for, Marissa! Will make tomorrow. Toured the UK - England, Scotland, and Wales 5 years ago. Every restaurant we were in had sticky toffee pudding and it looked different every night. Me? Stupidly watching calories and ate fruit so later found it in a Brit restaurant here. Was wonderful. And the dog? What a gorgeous sweetie!
Sitting at my desk trying to to get some work done and watching a lineup of cars all getting stuck on my street because a) there is a mountain of snow and b) the plows have NOT cleared our street and c) of course, all these people just had to get in their cars today, didn't they???? Reading this great post, I definitely agree it is time for tea and cake, and Norman absolutely made my day!!!! Thank you! I'm off to find Lyle's Golden Syrup. And no, I will NOT be driving to get it!!!!
I found the Lyle’s at World Market i& you happen to have one. I be.I eve Amazon has had it as well. I’ll be making this after I can get to the store for heavy cream. We have snow here, too.
Kisses all over Norman!!! As for the cake: Will veganize and bake ASAP!!!
Yes! Flaxseed egg and miyoko's cultured vegan butter. For the cream in the toffee sauce, there are lots of good options in supermarkets these days!
YES!!! Exactly!!! Also: the best/ my favorite non dairy milk for baking (and cooking) is Elmhurst Almond Milk unsweetened!!
I love ‘Escape to the Country’. Yummy recipe! Tea and cake sounds superb. Hugs from afar. 🤗🤗
Glad I'm not alone in my love for it!

Dates are often found in sticky toffee pudding, but I prefer it without! Please try this. It’s been a hard week for science … science needs you!
I will do my best for science—and toffee!
'Escape to the Country', such a treat.

Is Norman a Coltriever? Golden Retriver and Border Collie. He looks like my Emma.
