I'm probably two months late, but I made pumpkin muffins topped with candied ginger bits. First night of Hanukkah dinner will be Turkish red lentil soup. We're not Turkish, but we do know some Turkish immigrants--close enough!

And now I opened a bottle of Glenmorangie 15-year-old.

is there ever a bad time for a pumpkin muffin? or Glenmorangie 15?

I made the Hanukkah version of black-and-white cookies today. Instead of chocolate, they are blue and white.

I'm taking a pan of your grandma's lebkuchen to Mom's for Christmas tomorrow. I looked for a recipe for years, trying to replicate the lebkuchen I had when I lived in Nürnberg 40 years ago -- and your grandma's is the closest I've every tried. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Our family just shared a lovely noche buena dinner. I baked pecan bars, hazelnut raspberry thumbprint cookies, Mexican Wedding Cookies, and Apple Cakes for our Christmas celebrations. Dark days are coming but family and friends will help to see us through. Best wishes to everyone!

Dinner with the geographically near immediate family was (my historical) Polish- pierogi, kapusta, fresh sausage and Gołąbki (stuffed cabbage). Tomorrow I am going totally off the radar with nachos, and a family tradition of Swedish cream for dessert. Need an Asian dish, though.

Making things easy for me, chief cook and bottle washer!

Happy holidays, whatever you celebrate, to all.

And special thanks, Marissa, for all the lovely recipes I have shared over the years. Especially the pecan bourbon chocolate chip cookies. They are always a hit!

I'm going to try Joyce Vance's family's version of regulach- made with cottage cheese instead of cream cheese, and pretend for a day or two that the world isn't such a flipping mess. By the way, your pup is precious. Happy Christmas and Merry Chanukah.
