I share your pain. The stories these past 2 weeks have dissected Biden't "infirm" and who covered it up ad nauseam and Trump gets a pass from the media. It's...insane. We have a madman as president and we're worried about Biden stumbling. Maddening. I would still like to see the Doc's report on Trump's gunshot wound...
Thank you for your reality-based comment, Heidi. It’s amazing to me how credulous the madman’s cult is - even all of its gun-toters who surely should know better. Best explanation I’ve seen is he whipped out a capsule of fake blood (it’s so bright red!), and the casualties were pre-planned collateral damage, to provide some credibility. We’ll probably never know.
Thank you for asking how we're doing. I'm just back from a vacation away from the turmoil here at home, and am much better for the break from the constant flood of swill oozing from the White House and Congress like a suppurating sore.
I cook but don't bake (too many disasters over the years) so would probably use a ready-made Oreo crust. My fav Tillamook is Coffee Almond Fudge but not for this pie; like you, it'll be Malted Moo Shake. Making out my shopping list for tomorrow!
What a wonderful, magical world we'd be in if creation and consumption of the cookies, cakes, and pies Ms. Rothkopf provides for us could save democracy! At the very least, creative baking soothes the scary, wrong, brutal forced autocracy that is happening now.
Thank you for asking how we, your devoted followers, feel. Unfortunately, I feel exactly as you do. Fixing a delicious recipe is the only time I feel any relief from the ongoing deluge of unbelievably horrible news. So, thank you for giving us something to enjoy to take our minds off the mind-numbing daily bad news out of DC. By the way, my Kroger store in Duluth, GA always has your Malted Moo Cow ice cream in stock. I hope you live close enough to come to Duluth. We are located in solid blue Gwinnett County, GA, so you will be safe here. The rest of GA, not so much though.😥
This ice cream pie looks divine. How am I doing? Thanks so much for asking—I'm spending a lot of time alternately devouring news and commentary, and raging, and then turning it all off to work hard at my art—theatrical costume design. My third alternate is disassociating, which I achieve by inhaling fluff fiction. This is especially important at night if I want to have a hope in hell of going to sleep. I hope you're able to sleep, too.
I agree about all the horrid stuff coming at us but then I also saw the video of Pres. Biden in the airport being a real human being and greeting people as a kind and loving person that he is. That also brought me to tears. I knew we would miss him but I feel like we lost a family member. I wish he and Jill the best and that treatment puts him in remission and they have many ore years together
I've had to turn away ever so slightly this week. The horrors do get overwhelming. But still keep fully informed. But the pie! Anything chocolate chip related is my favorite. Yummmm, it sounds so good. I appreciate your thoughts and recipes and hearing about you and your animal family.
Thanks for all of the delicious recipes! This ice cream pie looks to be over the top (and after this week in the news, so very needed). I have developed low-level anxiety and am afraid to check my blood pressure. My favorite ice cream is vanilla, followed by cherry vanilla, followed by Milwaukee Frozen Custard’s Lemon Custard.
Thank you! I like peach ice cream best, and it is often hard to find. My sister and I made our own a few years ago in Oregon when we found really good fresh peaches.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This pie combines so many foods I love!! You're right, this week has been particularly horrendous. I've hardly watched the news this week because it's always "What horrible thing did he (or his minions) do today?" and it's all so cruel and vengeful. I'm gonna make this pie, maybe with cherry swirl ice cream and forego the raspberries....

If he had been hit by a 7.62X39mm his ear would be gone. I've seen what an AK can do to things much more solid than human flesh.

We'll never know, until Jake Tapper writes a book with unnamed sources.
Well-played!
I completely agree about the fake blood capsule and the planning.

This looks like a balm for the soul! Do you use a conventional or deep-dish pie pan?
I use a conventional pan…that I bought at my local supermarket!
I cook but don't bake (too many disasters over the years) so would probably use a ready-made Oreo crust. My fav Tillamook is Coffee Almond Fudge but not for this pie; like you, it'll be Malted Moo Shake. Making out my shopping list for tomorrow!
Oh. I haven’t tried the coffee almond fudge!
It's exquisite!
Tillamook ice cream, cream of the crop!

Oh? Thank you. We have to stick together!!
Thank you for this. Your emotions, thoughts and luscious recipe are greatly appreciated.

Hang in there we’ll get through this together! I too feel the same. We’ve got to be able to keep our democracy going…with pie, of course!
goodness that was easy-making the algorithm happy!

Gurrrrrl, you hear me!

But good chocolate ice cream is second.
Peach ice cream! Or apricot.... We had trees and my dad made good stuff.
I put fresh peaches (when they’re in season) in my Ninja Creami with milk and when processed it’s pretty good “peach ice cream.”
Does your Ninja work well? I became lactose intolerant and the nearest alternative ice cream is too far away. And I miss ice cream.
