You need to find some Tillamook Ice Cream! Many like the Vanila Bean variety the best, my preference is Old-Fashioned, and they also make a French Vanilla. Any of the Tillamook flavors has more butterfat than the government requires of ice cream, and they all have the serious cream-i-ness of ice creams of the 1950s. Really, just go find some!

Tillamook vanilla bean is the best vanilla ice cream!

The winner in our taste off was Van Leeuwen! We didn't have Tillamook vanilla bean, unfortunately!

Oh that award was definitely stolen from Ben&Jerrys. I demand a recount. And seize those voting machines while you’re at it 😂

And a Happy Melted Cheese on Everything Day to you! I am celebrating my making a sort-of tomato tart with Boursin Cheese. Sheet of puff pastry, layer on the Boursin, top with (preciously roasted with garlic & olive oil) tomatoes. 400 degree oven for about 20 minutes. Yummy.

Salsa and cream cheese dip. Mom’s special dip. Pimentos, green olives and cream cheese on ritz crackers.

Mom’s other speciality Cooked Cheerios (for act two. I mean half time). And we play bingo. A version of it. You have to get the whole board to win!

And this year she also made her mother’s recipe for homemade bread. I tried not to look at the Crisco can under the sink. (Wink wink.)

I have never cared for football so I skip it. I do watch the TV ads through since they show up on Twitter. I spent the day potting some new plants and tossing some dead ones. I also made a homemade pizza (I cheat on the dough, getting it from Whole Foods). My food addiction is ice cream and my favorite is Ben & Jerry's. I did a tour through the factory when I lived in CT since it was a relatively short drive. I then made your chewy oatmeal cookies with dried cranberries and walnuts - keeper of a recipe. I forgot to buy the chocolate chips but I'll add them next time. I'm a big fan of putting cheese into and/or on top of everything.

I needed queso for taquitos on Friday and could not find any at the store! I was so confused! Apparently there’s some big even this weekend 😂

We don’t follow football (though I don’t mind watching Mahomes move) ... I had no idea Super Bowl was this weekend. I thought it was last weekend. Isn’t it a little late for the Super Bowl? I thought it was the first weekend in February? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hahahah! Perfect.

Mahomes does have some moves...!

Totally skipped the sportsball stuff (although I heard that "Lift Every Voice" was sung, so I'm going to search that out), but I did make cupcakes for democracy (I bake cupcakes for people who donate to a variety of democratic causes), so that was a thing. No cheese was involved, except for some cream cheese in some of the frosting.

Cheryl Lee Ralph was no surprise, incredible. I hope you found it online. Tell me more about cupcakes for democracy!!

Expand full comment

I bake cupcakes for an organization called Bake Back Better. Almost every month, we gather donations for different groups dedicated to supporting democracy or for specific candidates such as Raphael Warnock, Stacey Adams and others and we give 4 cupcakes to every donor. If the donors don't want the cupcakes, they are given to first responders. We have chapters in the SF Bay Area, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Seattle and Des Moines, Iowa. Our website is https://www.bakebackbetter.com/
