I detest the man, and he can fluff himself to the moon and back for 4 whole years and I wouldn't care one iota. He is the greatest menace ever to have set foot in the Oval Office. I don't know how this is fixable because America is weak, and this shows other nations our failings as a nation. How can we be so stupid? We look like the laughingstock of the universe! From being the greatest nation, we now look like the ineptest.

I quite agree. So infuriating and discouraging.

Trump is "flooding the zone", a tactic used by Bannon. Throw tons of stuff out there so that you forget the outrage from an hour ago to pivot to the next outrage. Notice how no one is talking about him lowering the price of eggs any more? Greenland! Canada! Squirrel!!

I am SO disappointed in our legal system. It's just...wrong. But he IS a convicted felon and that's not going away.

It's really not possible to completely compartmentalize what's happening around you, and if you only concentrated on baking you'd be myopic, which is not a good thing. It's also true that food is not only for survival, but also for comfort. I always bring food to a family member's wake, and yesterday, I brought food to my niece (baked ziti, salad, baguette and dessert) who had just recently given birth and got home right before the snow storm. I never smoked, did drugs (I'm 72 and drugs weren't available where I was growing up), drank little and now rarely, I don't buy expensive luxury items (I'm too practical), but I love to eat good food and I'm more than willing to cook and bake to get it. Since I live alone, I eat some of the baked goods I make and then share the rest with family members. Luckily, I had no black plastic utensils because I love colorful things, and yes, data errors in research do occur. I'm old enough to remember when eggs were good, then eggs were bad (cholesterol), then only the whites were good, and finally, now, eggs are good, but supposedly, the price of eggs gave us Trump. I've always loved eggs and I love breakfast for dinner. We can only control ourselves and we need to work on balance, helping ourselves and others, and eating good food.

Off topic, but I made the shortbread peanut butter chocolate chip cookies at Christmas. Best cookies ever and have to become a holiday tradition! Thanks!

About mixing politics and cookies-keep up both! I also hate that man and hope we survive him! Unbelievable that he is going to be President of the United States! George Washington must want to get out his musket! Go George!!! Eat more cookies!🍪

I had to eat an extra cookie to settle myself down. Cannot do that for another four years— it took a year to lose all the weight from his first administration.🍪🍪

I wanted to share this inspiring moment with you that even in the face of being deported by in coming felon president, these undocumented workers wanted to help the citizens of California and they did:

https://www.npr.org/2025/01/10/nx-s1-5254160/california-fires-los-angeles-latino-immigrants

On their own they went to Altedena, CA to put out fires and most likely saved a man's home.

A quote from one undocumented helper, "Our values and our principles come first, that's what our parents taught us," Garcia said. "They always used to say, help others without concern for who they are or why they need help." The narcissist felon blamed Gavin Newsome, I loathe the felon.

Greenland, Panama Canal became a thing when Jimmy Carter died, because people were paying attention to his death, not to Trump. He does it all the time. Are you tired of hearing T. when he isn't president yet talking about this presidency? That is another example.

Too bad the Bay of Pigs name was taken. It suits T. to a tea!

I would trade that felon for all the black plastic utensils on earth. How I wish I had that choice.

I recommend a cup of Rishi brand pink ginger and lemon tea. I don’t need the caffeine even in green tea. I’m super grateful for your postings and read things that are even a year old, returning again and again to your tried and true recipes. I am so grateful for you!

My hometown of Chattanooga got 4 inches of snow today, enough to bring out kids (and some much older!) and their sleds. As is a bit of tradition, I make my mom's oatmeal cookies whenever it snows and share with my sister. So, the only thing I read was a recipe. But, I got to share a dozen cookies with a new neighbor!

I’m a former Chattanoogan and long time resident of the ATL…I love making and sharing cookies regardless of how many other things are competing for attention. And sharing food with strangers is the best way to make friends!
