Wow these are intoxicating. My nephew says “they are a gateway...” slippery slope of cookie indulgence.

Hee! I agree! A delightful slope!

Recipe sounds delish! If your in Seattle, a stop at Ivers for fish and chips followed by a latte at the original Starbucks home. Then shopping at Seattle Public Market. Also if your on the North Shore in Oahu must stop for Iceee!😉

Yummy cookie recipe, as always! When I go to Detroit I *must* have a Coney Dog. When in San Diego, you're missing the boat if you don't have fish tacos. And New York Bagels when in NYC.

How do you feel about Detroit pizza?

As much as I like a thin crispy rustic crust, I do appreciate a thick and square one too. I'm headed back to see friends and family this summer, and will be taking advantage of the opportunity. Also, some of the best corned beef on rye is in Detroit. Yum!

I finally made this this weekend and took them to work on Monday. One of my co-workers declared them the best cookie ever, so I guess I'll be making them again!

Holy Hell! I just made these cookies for my husbands birthday. (He requested chocolate chip cookies) They are, by far, the best cookie we’ve EVER tasted! Thank you so much! Worth every bit of effort and every calorie!

Ahhhh, you made my day/week/month. I was in a bit of a gloomy place and your note popped up. Thank you so much for writing and letting me know. And happy birthday to your husband!

Does the butter need to be unsalted?

Expand full comment

I'm not that fussy. Unsalted is preferred because it allows the recipe maker to salt somthing to their taste, but honestly, you won't notice a real difference in a sweet cookie!

I made a variation of your recipe - small bits of dark chocolate, different liquor, non-dairy - and froze most of the oven-ready dollops. I bake six at a time, and they are so good!

Bourbon, chocolate chips, browned butter -- what's not to like?? Printing this recipe out so I'll make them some weekend when I have more time.

I only eat Tex-Mex in San Antonio or south Texas. Not in Austin or Houston, and certainly not in Dallas!

LMk if you make them!

Cheese curds in Wisconsin!!

Btw do you use whole wheat flour or white or mixed?

Expand full comment

I now use the KAF White Whole Wheat flour for all my baking.....they did a study and found you could substitute their White Whole Wheat flour for A/P flour in most cookies and breads without adjusting any other ingredients....I've been doing it for several years now.....and also found interestingly enough that I could purchase it at a reasonable price at Target!

Expand full comment

I usu use a mix of whole wheat and white, but I don't always say that because I don't want people to not make a recipe because they don't have whole wheat flour on hand.

These look delicious! I absolutely, as I was born a Kentuckian which of course makes an “expert” - I would eat these on Derby Day!

How fun! Good luck to your daughter and enjoy the trip! Lexington and surrounding horse country area are beautiful. I wish I wasn’t so baking/cooking challenged - the cookies sound amazing!

Expand full comment

I don't think you are baking challenged! I know you can cook. would it help if I did an online cookie making course?

Expand full comment

You are too kind! Online course would help, but I am not exaggerating when I say I’m challenged. Like, I don’t even know sometimes what certain utensils are or what certain actions mean! I don’t own a whisk, lol! On the flip side, this means I can only go up! 😁
