Looking forward to trying these. Convicting TFG of any crime is good with me: sooner than later. Just want some jail time.

Why does caramel "take charge" in this cookie recipe? That is the only reference to caramel, so I am wondering since I am a craver of caramel. Mr. Streger was scary as my freshman Biology teacher, but as my junior Chemistry teacher, he was much nicer, perhaps because he was a basketball fan & came to our games. I was greatly relieved when I found he was not the Ogre I thought him to be 2 yrs prior. As for trump, I thought Angry_Staffer on Twitter had the best idea of where to "store" trump when & if he is sentenced to prison time. Camp David where he would be alone, confined with only his thoughts, no cell phone, no contact with anyone from outside Camp David, no sharing his b.s. with anyone ever again. Only allowing him one packet of ketchup per meal & no KFC. Paper plates only. As to which crime, I would like him sentenced for the theft of the classified documents, which he has undoubtedly shared/sold to foreign adversaries of ours. It is treason! Thanks.

I like to brown the butter before making chocolate chip cookies. It adds a nuttier, more caramel taste. But any kind of cookie would be divine to eat while trump was being fitted into an orange suit for his efforts to overturn the election and incite insurrection. And gratefully, I had a teacher back when the Earth was cooling who used to encourage/tease me by saying, "Not bad for a girl". Joe Opalinski was a great teacher, and I know I'm not the only one who thinks so.

The cookies look scrumptious as I wait in my Covid captivity to be allowed back into the kitchen to bake again. What a dreadful and all-too common story yours is about Mr. Mead. Do you recall the day in chemistry class when Miss Meny reeled around wild-eyed and pointed at me with a straight arm from behind the lab desk and yelled, “ No eyebrow raising!” She then told me I had to see her after school. I remember talking to you about it afterwards as I dreaded being alone with her. I think you and I got yelled at by her on the regular.

Yes, I know for sure I’m not a math person, but when they start mixing alphabet and numerals forget it as did my 8th grade teacher told me, “I “would never use it anyway. Thank God my 12th grade French teacher advised me to not take the final cause she was afraid I would bring my average to fail and not be able to graduate. She was a kind woman. (I changed schools over 12 years, twenty times, back in the day, when you went where the work was. My dad always put a roof over our heads and we had food on our table).

I adore chocolate chip cookies (and trying new recipes!) so I shall give these a go in the coming days.

I had a rough time in high school because I was bored... I cut school a lot and went to the nearby university library to look things up I wanted to know. But because of my erratic attendance, I was put into classes with the "bad kids" (which of course rendered me less motivated). My high school guidance counselor could not see what ailed me and clearly believed I would amount to nothing. I always wanted to go back and wave my two master's degrees in her face! Ah, public school systems of the 70s!

I've never been a big fan of chocolate chip cookies. I prefer oatmeal and sugar cookies. However, as a new subscriber I am enjoying your newsletters. And, while I never had a teacher make obnoxious comments to me concerning math, an eighth grade teacher (at a Montessori school no less) made similar comments to my daughter. Even though she later excelled in geometry, the comments have never left her. Math is not a discrete subject as there are numerous types of math (algebra, geometry, calculus, etc.) and the ability to do well in one type does not mean you'll do well in another type. Teacher's who make obnoxious comments may be projecting their frustration to teach their subject. Instead of examining that frustration and searching for other ways to teach, they blame the student.

Okay, baked the cookies this afternoon. I did leave the dough in the fridge overnight, about 20 hrs. total. I didn't place balls of dough on cookie pans because there was no room for that. Just in the mixing bowl covered. I took it out about 2:30, but it was so hard (solid) that it was about 30 minutes before I could use my scoop. Bottom line, I came out with 27 cookies, about medium in size, but absolutely delicious. I'll be baking these from now on. Even my son wants some tomorrow. I cannot believe it took 40 yrs for him to find his sweet tooth. This recipe is a KEEPER! Thanks.

My favorite chocolate chip cookies are based on an old Better Homes and Gardens recipe that uses oatmeal, pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg. I think they are best with the mini chips, but the recipe also makes fantastic cookies with just nuts or butterscotch chips or... you name it. I am also told these cookies "go great with beer." I cannot attest to this personally. I was extremely lucky to have had a series of mostly wonderful and inspiring teachers. As for the "which crime" question: first and all available.

I just made these…followed the recipe exactly. I scooped the dough into balls and froze. I used good bar chocolate and chopped it. Then I put the frozen balls onto parchment and baked — they took a while, I checked them every couple minutes.

As I finished mixing I asked, where’s the vanilla….surprised but I didn’t add it. The cookies were enjoyed by all — they were buttery and crisp but had some substance — not the skinny flat ones that are known to happen.

My 11th grade math teacher called me a bird brain in front of the whole class, because I made arithmetic mistakes in the course of otherwise doing complicated math problems correctly. It was awful.

I'll try these cookies when I can plan ahead. Too late to make them for dinner guests tonight...

Marissa, I made up the batter for the cookies. It is covered in a mixing bowl in the fridge. I have much on my plate already tomorrow, so tomorrow afternoon is the likely target baking time. I'll give you my unabashed review afterwards. Cheers, and thanks for the recipe.

Recipe looks fabulous but I’m wondering about substituting a slightly sweeter chocolate for the bittersweet?

Anything that will put the orange fraud in prison is fine with me. It would be good if he could serve a term long enough that people forget him
