Sorry to hear you’ve lost readers because of your views. Frankly, the way you do what you do is why I’m here. There is a plethora of foodie blogs and ‘casts, but I choose yours. Even more bluntly, I prefer *not* to belong to any group that would include such as those that have departed. Call me snooty, but that’s how I roll when it comes to saving my democracy and loving great food. Keep doing what you’re doing. You won’t regret it.

Agreed!

My politics come from the kitchen table, where my parents discussed current events and local and national politics. I accompanied my parents to polling places and brought my own child with me there as well (and now, as an adult, they have voted in every election). Politics are a kitchen table and food-related subject, so while I'm sorry that you have lost readers, I'm glad it's something you talk about because it's so important.

Along with your recipes I await your commentary on things real. I am sorry you have lost some readers but it is their loss. I pity them.

You are who you are, and that’s why I’m here. Hiding who we are doesn’t really serve anybody all that well, does it?

Also? I’m quite certain the loss is entirely theirs.

Anyone who cancelled due to political talk has lost more than your delicious recipes.

I ditto the other commenters. I subscribe not only for recipes, but also to read your opinions about life, politics, and your family which includes Calvin, Clyde, and Bosco (of course).

I think I cancelled my subscription a few months ago in a "budgeting frenzy." Can't remember because I cancelled several! Wanted you to know that it wasn't political and I will likely subscribe again this September. 💙

You always inspire me. Last week I made a, supposedly historic, North Carolina Blueberry Sonker. Easiest recipe ever! And the company loved it.

I see you have graced us with a scone recipe. I have some Old Mill of Guilford ingredients and plan on having these for breakfast tomorrow!

Thank you as always, and keep up the news/political conversations.

What perfect timing. I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow so I'll add blueberries to my list and make either the coffee cake or the scones. Or, first one and then the other. I'm allergic to most fruits but not to blueberries and I do love them so. I think of your newsletters as having tea and baked goods with a friendly acquaintance so there's always a little politics thrown in. As long as everyone is cordial, and can tolerate different opinions, I don't see it as an issue.

Those scones are sooo delicious. It's amazing how the white chocolate chips turn into something else when cooked in these scones. The only problem is that I usually don't have white chocolate chips or heavy cream on hand, but if I plan ahead, they are wonderful.

Okay, scones first. I actually have some white chocolate chips but no heavy cream although I'll pick some up tomorrow.
