My daughter and her partner are coming from northwest MA to visit me over Christmas. I've had their presents mailed to their home in MA (they really don't need to be dragging presents home on the plane) but I also got a couple of Christmas stockings for them and I've been wondering what to put in them. I'd decided on gift cards and then I read your email and discovered Herrell’s which is only about 15 minutes from their home. I'm going to order a couple of the hot fudge jars for myself and a gift card for each of them. I'm addicted to good ice cream and my daughter also shares my passion. When I visited them in August they took me to an ice cream shop in Easthampton, so I know they'll enjoy Herrell's. I also think the sponge bed is fantastic. Thank you for the suggestions.

On your recommendation, we ordered fudge and almond butter crunch from The Fudge Shoppe (for us and for family gifts). Our order arrived yesterday (we're in California) and of course, we had to try them. Heavenly!!! Thanks for highlighting this small business. 🙏🏽

I'm thinking about the lemon bush, it would be an adventure for one who likes to cook but fails at growing anything. I also think my daughter, who has an education in horticulture, as part of her degree, would like one as well.

Jose is an angel and World Central Kitchen is on my monthly donation list. I think I’ll send a holiday gift, however, a little extra goes so far in the work WCK does around the world. Do you remember when he won the law suite against Trump? I always think that was good vs evil and that good won.

Thank you for all the links and enjoyment found at these sites.

The sponge bed! This was the most memorable entry in our annual family white elephant gift exchange, purchased by our then 18 year old son. It made a reappearance last year with the addition of a mini custom quilt!

I have a big family so I try to keep the gifts inexpensive and fun. (add up all the kids of all the men my mother was ever married to . . . 23!)

Big hit one year was bowl buddies. Went on Etsy and spent a couple of hours matching up each person with a perfect "bowl buddy." Inexpensive, practical, won't break if shipped, and (rolled up) fit neatly in a Christmas stocking.

And thanks for the tip on the cheeses!
