Mike Johnson whining that Congress hasn't had a raise in 17 years. They work probably 4 months out of the year. When was the last time the Fed minimum wage was raised? 2009. It's at $7.25. That works out to a FT job salary of LESS than $15K. So cry me a river, Mike. And to hell with all those people who keep people like him in office.

Preach, Jan. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I’m so angry today. This announcement of a slush fund for insurrectionists after listening to a podcast this morning describing the difficulty doctors and WHO in Africa are having due to the Ebola outbreak now that there’s no USAID. The absolute lack of any morality in our government has me at my wit’s end. I find myself angry at the misadministration, the republicans in congress, and anyone who voted for this.

The corruption is off the charts.

The loss of voting rights is tragic.

The attack on women’s bodily autonomy is heinous.

The lack of regulations for our environment is criminal.

The attack on the 0.8% of our population that is trans is heartless.

The death of expertise encouraged by our HHS secretary is a form of eugenics.

The plan of those like Thiel to make “sovereign states” where they can take advantage of workers without ramifications is dystopian.

The turning our backs on our allies, such as Ukraine, is morally bankrupt.

The destruction of our very system of government is 53% complete according to Project 2025 tracker.

All of this - and Republicans stand by this awful person. It is infuriating and yet so incredibly sad that so many in our country would allow it.

Thank you for letting us vent.

Ooooo….this is a really good list. Thanks.

I feel ya! I'm almost as frustrated with the mainstream Democratic Party as the MAGAverse!! DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) is still backing DINOs instead of progressives. They need to hear from us: their donors!!

"The federal bourbon investigation unit": priceless!

I'm waiting for the large, soft sugar cookie recipe as sugar cookies are my favorite. We are lucky that people are keeping lists of people to investigate, laws to repeal and laws to write, as well as people in government to fire. I'm on the autism spectrum, and as a rule, I stay fairly even keeled even when I'm not at all happy about something. I also really don't like chaos, illogic, hypocrisy, and lying, so these times are difficult. Luckily, I'm 74 and retired so I don't have to interact with people who refuse to use their brains and who refuse to care about others. I've also lived through a lot of shit, including personal and business sexual discrimination, harassment and assault. It's a constant fight but, we still keep moving forward and a good cookie brings perspective.

“Good cookies bring perspective” - this is gold!

Norman, This is Boudreaux aka Boo the German Shepherd thinking through what we can do to help our people not be so crazy and mad. Let’s just tell them to all go vote in November, do good things every day even to Republicans, speak up, show up, and bring us with them. Thank you. Sincerely, Boo

Steaming mad. Healthcare cuts causing log jams and inappropriate wait times for diagnostics and procedures. Food and gas so high that people can’t buy food or get to work. Talk of eliminating the ‘gift’ of social security. All the while Mr Goldeneye trying to build a gaudy ballroom and destroying our historical structures in DC, and padding his wallet with stock deals and IRS deals. Why do we have to pay taxes when the government is not doing anything about this Country’s issues? Mad, yep. I need a chocolate chip cookie for sure. 🍪

Trump’s appeal is actually pretty simple. He promised to punish the people they hate. And it’s the one promise he kept. For that, they will follow him into Hell. There is no price they will not pay.

Sally Buehne's avatar

true – but you’d think they would finally catch on that he hates them too!

Heidi Hall's avatar

I think you may be overestimating the awareness of the MAGA core. They watch Fox all day long because anything else is "fake news".

Adam J. Blust's avatar

That is true. He would gladly toss them into a wood chipper if it made him a dollar.

One of my favorite trump stories is how he said the only positive thing about the covid pandemic was "I don't have to shake hands with all those horrible people anymore." Which makes the "his hand bruises are from shaking hands" lie all the more darkly hilarious.

Sharon Boyes-Schiller's avatar

And this is why there is an absolute bottom to his numbers, there is at least 30 to 35% of the electorate who will believe anything he says and continue to support him. Of that, probably 5% of them have some doubts, but as you say, they hate the people he’s going after so ….

PMB-CA's avatar

What shows their ignorance is they too are being hurt by these actions.

Adam J. Blust's avatar

They are being hurt. BUT THEY DO NOT CARE. He is giving them something way more valuable: permission to have all their worst impulses not only accepted, but celebrated.

I booped. It worked. Thanks.

Please rant away. I am too sad to rant anymore. I write congress everyday. I would do better spitting into the wind.

JL Watson's avatar

At the beginning of this administration's reign of idiocracy, I ranted. I participated in protests. I called and left messages for members of Congress. I boycotted companies that didn't align with my beliefs. (I still do.)

But, I am exhausted. And afraid. I wake with my heart racing. Every. Single. Day. At this very moment in my personal history, I can't rant. I need the rest of you to carry on for me, just until I can catch my breath.

After I eat some cookies, write some poetry, pet a dog (or boop a nose! 🐕), and sit alone under a tree, I will do my best to catch my breath and rejoin you in this battle.

Marissa I feel you. The criminal clown car regime and family are the worst of the worst lining their pockets and publicly saying they do not care about the rest of us. We must all stand together and take our country back and rebuild the East Wing. Tear down the arch of it gets built and resurface the reflecting pool. And replace all the proper names and unfold the oval “bordello”. I am guessing baking helps you and for me it is being outside. I also hug my dogs and love Norman. He is so calm looking. Hang in there we will survive. Remember what Hungary just did….

I've been yelling "WTF!" every hour it seems for days. Weeks. The corruption is out of control. Time to 86 the fat bastard.

PMB-CA's avatar

I've started using "fuck" like commas!! Sad.

Mel's avatar

I'm just so sad and disgusted.

Jodi's avatar

I’m furious at the corruption and heartbroken at the hate crimes (my coworker lives a block from the Islamic Center shooting in San Diego) and feel so helpless. The only thing that gets me through the day is trying to remember what Mister Rogers used to say: look for the helpers. We need to all be the helpers to get through these tough times.

Lisa's avatar

I’m so upset that I feel like my head is going to explode every single day! How can this be happening? Why is there no accountability to such corruption, fleecing, ineptitude, moral depravity, and dismantling of our democracy? Like you said, Marissa, how can one single person still support this?! It’s beyond baffling and deflating! Thank you for letting me vent!
