Went to the Symphony tonight (an Aretha Franklin tribute); they sang America the Beautiful, and I wept. I wept for all our fellow citizens who are suffering at the hands of this corrupt, inhumane, cruel oligarchy who are running roughshod over our nation. So how am I coping? Tomorrow I shall make this lovely cake, watch something on PBS, check in with my kiddos, and give thanks for the gift of Marissa and her compassion.

I spent a few hours in my bathroom (no windows) with my cat while the tornado sirens kept going off. I live in St Louis County and there were a few tornados (not close to me) and very high winds along with hail and thunderstorms. I just got out of the bathroom since everything has passed and read your email and recipe so I'll have to get some blueberries (raspberries, and most berries, taste odd to me - probably an allergy) and a lemon while I'm out on Saturday, as this recipe looks great. Saturday, I'm heading to an Indivisible/DNC town hall for my Republican Representative who's had three terms in office but refuses to have a town hall so I suspect she won't be there tomorrow. It'll probably be more fun without her. Neither Josh Hawley or Eric Schmitt (MO Senators) hold town halls either.

My red Rep will also not hold a town hall face to face, so we're going to have one without him!😊

I read yesterday that the NRCC has told House members NOT to hold town halls. Not like they have been much, but they don’t want a repeat of the one in GA.

I have found a wonderfully distracting activity to calm all the anxiety surrounding the times we find ourselves living in. I’m obsessed with Jackie and Shadow, two bald eagles in Big Bear Valley California, who have just hatched 3 eaglets within the last 10 days. It is absorbing to watch this paired couple care for their little ones. I find myself checking in on them multiple times a day.

This recipe looks really good and I will make an attempt later this week.

I saw that this morning and there seems to be concern about the third baby not being seen. They hope it is the camera angle and that it is still there.

I love your take on life, dear Marissa. Thank you, bless you. We’re all doing our part to lift up the world (my husband and I were part of the several thousand protesting Rep. Chuck Edwards in Asheville— it was good for the soul). If only we had brought a few hundred of those thrilling Raspberry Delights to share.

I visited my 101 year old mother. She was feeling down but my visit helped her and she is feeling much better. I just read your recipe for raspberry bake well and I am inspired. I am ignoring the news for at least an hour 😔.

What a lovely recipe—it's on my list for when I bake for other people—I have an almond flavor hater in the house. Meanwhile, we celebrated Pi Day with a yuzu pie (like key lime, but with yuzu juice. Thanks for taking my mind off of current events for a few minutes with lovely food and wonderful animal photos.

You don’t need a stand mixer. I don’t have one either. Start on low with a hand mixer. It sounds like a cake I can actually make.

I have a hand mixer that does the job.

The news has me rolling between eating everything I can find, to nothing at all. This cake looks delicious, and will be joining my oven after shopping tomorrow for raspberries. The lambs are cute, and hello to all your 4 footed family members.❤️

Hmmm. I’ve been looking for a recipe to make what I think of as raspberry ribbon coffee cake, like Enteman’s makes. I think if I cross this with a sour cream coffee cake batter, I might have what I’m looking for. Thanks, Melissa.
