I made my first batch of cookies from your book-the chickpea chocolate chip- and they were phenomenal! I now have the pistachio cardamom chocolate dough chilling in the fridge. Yes like a new parent I will be telling everyone I see the that you are a cookie genius! And sharing the love of cookies and free speech everywhere! Thanks for baking all of those cookies!
Maria, that's the one I've chosen for my first go, and I'm taking them to the booksellers at my local independent bookstore where I spend an amazing amount of time!
Fractions: so many measurements are 1/2 cup or 1/4 tsp or 2/3 or 3/4 something. Somehow, amazingly, if we needed a half cup for a wet and a dry ingredient, we'd use it for the wet ingredient making it unusable for the dry one & so I learned that 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2 and so on
Congratulations Marissa! So sorry to have missed the live launch but I have the book in hand and simply have to decide WHICH cookie to bake first for my chocoholic husband!
Congratulations! 🎉 . It’s so fun doing a book signing at your local small bookstore. I had that pleasure too when I had my book signing and had the goodies just like your picture to give to those who came for the book signing. And so great to have a small bookstore in your community. Again, congratulations…
I was very excited to find your cookbook on my mail pile yesterday and look forward to baking from it! I love how your voice comes through so strongly in your writing and how you reach out personally to your readers. Thank you so much!
Good Boy, Norman! Tuesday was so much fun and it's great that the Substack support team was able to recover the video so everyone can watch the replay.
I notice a big difference between AP flour brands. For instance for pie, KAF doesn't work for me, I need a lower gluten number, so I use Pillsbury or whatever is on sale. (KAF pastry flour costs way too much.) For cookies, it doesn't seem to make a difference. For bread, I use AP but have to add in some bread flour. 🤷
I bought 2 - one for me and one as a birthday gift for a friend who loves ccc - hopefully my indie bookstore in Oak Park will stock it for the holidays 🍪🍪😎😎✌️✌️
Chocolate chip cookies, and a cookie cookbook, and a handsome dog - oh my! The trifecta. I’m ordering your book. Thanks to the inimitable Joyce Vance for shining her light on you in Substack. And, I have all of Rose Levy Beranbaum’s cookbooks; most are first editions, now spattered with years of batter. Yay, you!!
Congratulations Marissa! How exciting for you and your family....of course including Norman Bates :) Thank you so much for bringing us into your life and sharing it with us today. I was so excited when I opened the bag that contained your cookie cookbook. Honestly....so much more wonderful than I could have imagined. Thank you so much on behalf of me and my family....who will be thrilled to eat these and also for solving my problem on what to give to my friends and extended family for Christmas!

My mom introduced me to baking (and fractions!) when I was 8. I've never stopped!

They still make bleached flour?
