I’ve been putting out holiday season gift guides for a while now. I used to review gadgets and kitchen gear for Newsweek. My column was called “Gadget Lust,” (thanks for that, Bob Roe!) and since then I’ve been pretty opinionated on the topic of kitchen equipment, and generally anything that has to do with gifts related to food, eating and cooking.
Fine. I’ve been opinionated forever and on just about every topic. So I have expertise in not just kitchen stuff, but opinions, you see?
Heh.
This year, as I was putting together the start of a gift guide for y’all, I noticed gift guide after gift guide popping up all over Substack like some sort of invasive species.
So instead of some one-size-fits-all list of suggestions, allow me to offer what I hope is a real service to you: Personalized recommendations for holiday gifts for the home and kitchen.
It’s the least I can do for you lovely people. You’ve been very patient with me these last few months as I’ve been writing my cookbook and a tad distracted from my other duties.
Whether it’s a friend who deserves a special gift, your tedious Auntie Madge who tuts her way through present-opening waiting for disappointment, what to bring the hostess with the most-everything, or what you should get your well-deserving self, ask me in the comments below. I’ll get back to you with my recs.
You could always give them a subscription to my substack, of course. Even just sign them up for free!
Please, the recipe for those cardamom coffee chocolate chip cookies!
Can you do my shopping for me?
No seriously, I need something for a guy who likes to make sourdough and prides himself on being a really good, innovative chef.
